What are vaccines for?
Vaccines are special, very delicate products that stimulate the immune system so as to generate antibodies or defenses that protect your pet from certain diseases. They have a temporary effect on the animal and should be repeated periodically throughout the life of the pet. The veterinarian is trained to handle, prepare and implement these sensitive products to your pet. The number of vaccinations or the vaccination plan of an animal shall be recommended by the veterinarian as they will determine the health status and the particular situation of the pet when vaccinated; also they will consider the presence of disease in certain geographical areas that can be prevented with proper vaccination schedule.
It is recommended to deworm the pet before undergoing their first vaccination.
Once a pup is vaccinated by the veterinarian, it may feel down or have a slight feverishness and pain in the area of application of the vaccine. Contact your veterinarian if this state lasts longer than 24 hours or is accompanied by other signs such as diarrhea and vomiting.
Do not bathe your pet before or immediately after receiving the vaccine. Ask the veterinarian when and how you may bathe your pet.
Do not travel or take your pet outside its home before vaccinating and three days after vaccination.
Do not vaccinate a sick or weakened animal.
